HHE5147 Health Education for the 21st Century

Course Description

This course maps out the field of health education, and explores the history of the health education role, the philosophical basis of health education, and directions for the future of the profession. Practical skills needed by health educators are covered, and students have opportunities to practice some of them, including developing a Needs Assessments, and writing a proposal for a health program. Models of health education as part of a mainstream healthcare system and in alternative settings are explored. Professionals in the field may be brought in to share their experiences.
