Dr. Anderson, chair of the PsyD program, is a clinical psychologist with more than 30 years of experience as a licensed psychologist (three states). She has worked with diverse populations – children, medically compromised patients of all ages, older adults, those with dual diagnoses (e.g. depression and substance abuse), and LGBTQ persons. She is a member of WPATH (World Professional Association of Transgender Health), and has also been involved in population focused studies of marginalized groups, including the study of health risks and health disparities. She has had academic appointments in two Schools of Public Health (The University of Minnesota and Thomas Jefferson University’s School of Population Studies).

Dr. Anderson  has worked in Healthcare Management and has been the architect of large programs for special populations, such as statewide programs combining Medicare, Medical Assistance and various funding streams for those with disabilities, and programs for people with multiple risk factors (e.g. HIV positive pregnant mothers). She was recruited because of her expertise with diverse populations and her track record of management as a clinical psychologist.

Dr. Anderson has published articles and book chapters on a variety of clinical and management topics, serves on a task force for the World Health Organization in the development of criteria for the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-XI), serves as a reviewer for several professional journals, and conducts a part time private practice as a clinical psychologist in Oakland.
