Dr. Alejandrina Estrada

Professor College of Graduate and Professional Studies
Clinical Psychology

Dr. Estrada began her teaching career at John F. Kennedy University in 1993, teaching Cross-Cultural Psychology as Adjunct Professor for the Master in Counseling Psychology Program. In 1996, she joined the PsyD Program as core faculty where she teaches the Integrative Professional Seminar III, a three-quarter advanced clinical seminar designed for third year practicum students, and Introduction to Psychodynamic Theory. Over the years, she has taught a number of electives including Advanced Psychodynamic Theory, Consulting to Community Agencies, and Play Therapy.

Dr. Estrada brings over 20 years of clinical experience in Outpatient Community Mental Health with diverse, low-income families and children. As Associate Director of Training for five years, she was involved in the development and implementation of the training program, supervision and mentoring of practicum students, and taught a seminar on Clinical Interventions with Children and Families of Color.

For several years, Dr. Estrada conducted pre-adoption and foster parenting trainings at Diablo Valley Community College and Los Medanos College. She was Keynote Speaker at the CARE Parent Network annual conference in 2007, and is a frequent guest speaker in local Spanish-speaking radio stations.

Dr. Estrada has co-presented at the American Psychological Association (APA) Annual Convention on Evidenced-Based Practice in Trauma Research, and in September 2009, was invited to present at La Universidad del Turabo in San Juan, Puerto Rico on the Treatment of Domestic Violence.

Dr. Estrada is a member of APA Division 35 (Society for the Psychology of Women), Division 45 (Society for the Psychological Study of Culture, Ethnicity, and Race), Division 2 (Society for the Teaching of Psychology), and Division 56 (Trauma Psychology). She also a member of the National Latina/o Psychological Association (NLPA), the Northern California Society for Psychoanalytic Psychology (NCSPP), the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis (SFCP), and the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapist (CAMFT).

Dr. Estrada maintains a small private practice in Concord, CA.
