PSD7003 Foundations of Professional Psychology-History and Systems

Course Description

This course offers discussions of the evolution of modern psychology with regard to theories, systems and practices. It examines the philosophical, epistemological, cultural, and sociopolitical contexts and consequences of the major systems in the development of contemporary psychology. This course will emphasize instances in which psychology as a discipline has failed to recognize the importance of cultural and other forms of diversity, and oversights in the traditional accounts of the history of the field.
