Pat B. Allen

Pat B. Allen
Visiting Professor
John F. Kennedy University

Allen is one of the world's leading figures in the field of art and healing. Her books, Art is a Way of Knowing and Art is a Spiritual Path, are widely regarded as being central texts in the field of transformative arts. Her work as a transformative artist and art-therapist has challenged the edge between art as 'therapy' and art as a culturally significant process of self-expression. Allen also teaches at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Union University. She has worked as a therapist and teacher with numerous clinics, mental health organizations and hospitals. She is the founder and director of the Studio Pardes and co-founded the Open Studio Project in Chicago. Allen is also an exhibiting multi-media artist and exhibition curator. www.patballen.com
