Dr. Michahelles began his teaching career in 1976 as an assistant professor in law at the University of Augsburg, Germany while completing his Ph. D. in Law at the University of Munich. He then moved to California and studied Clinical Psychology from 1982 to 1985. After completing his M.A. at John F. Kennedy University, he started teaching at his new alma mater in 1986, advancing to full professorship in 1996.
Dr. Michahelles teaches, among others, Ethics and the Law, Psychopathology A and B, Specific Theories of Change: The Masterson Approach, Theories of MFT practice I, II, and II.
In addition, he maintains a private psychotherapy practice in Berkeley where he works with clients and supervises post-master's interns. Dr. Michahelles serves as a core faculty member in the Berkeley Counseling Psychology program Cohort as well as in the Pleasant Hill program.
