PSY5310 Group Therapy

Course Description

Group Therapy has gained recognition as an evidence-based appraoch that is both clinically-sound and cost-effective.  This course introduces students to the use of group therapy to address clinical issues such as schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder, domestic violence, addiction and ADHD.  The value of multicouple and multifamily groups is discussed.  The class is introduced to psychoeducational (content), interpersonal (process-oriented), or combined (content and process) group approaches.  An on-going group experience encourages the students to reflect upon their own interpersonal process to further develop the self of the therapist.
