The Sanford Institute of Philanthropy at John F. Kennedy University is offering an exciting and informative two-part workshop to provide nonprofit organizations with access to grant databases, help identifying grant funds, and methods for utilizing fundraising metrics.

This training is provided in partnership with the Foundation Center of San Francisco and Market Smart's Fundraising Report Card Group.

Join us for one or both of the following sessions:

Part I: Introduction to Grant Databases and Ways to Identify Grant Funds
When: February 2, 2017, 11 a.m.-12 p.m.
Where: John F. Kennedy University - Pleasant Hill Campus, 100 Ellinwood Way
Cost: Free

Presented by Ganga Dharmappa, community outreach manager at the Foundation Center in San Francisco, participants will learn the most important elements of finding and pursuing grants, including:

  • Who funds nonprofits and what their motivations are
  • What funders really want to know about potential organizations
  • How to identify potential funders and initiate contact
  • How to conduct guided online grant research using Foundation Directory Online

Ms. Dharmappa is a social sector professional focused on building sustainable, mission-driven organizations. She has more than a decade of experience in facilitation, leadership development, instructional design, writing, and community engagement. She is a dynamic and highly adaptable trainer for in-person and virtual audiences.

Part II: Introduction to Fundraising Metrics

In this webinar, Zach Shefska, director of Fundraising Report Card, Market Smart, will share insights on how to enter the world of big data to optimize fundraising. This session will be a conversational format with the opportunity for questions. Participants will learn:

  • Why data-driven fundraising matters and is relevant to an organization
  • The key performance fundraising metrics beginners should track
  • How existing technology can help in number-crunching and visualization
  • How to interpret results to inform future strategy and goal setting
  • How the right data at the right time can help in making important fundraising decisions
