The Vice President of Academic Affairs (VPAA) reports directly to the University President and is responsible for advancing the educational mission of the University with overall responsibility for academic matters. Working closely with the academic deans, program directors, and faculty senate, the VPAA oversees program development, program assessment and the appointment and development of the faculty. The VPAA plays an essential role in strategic planning, identifying new sources of support for academic programs and serves as the University liaison with accrediting agencies.
The Vice President of Academic Affairs should be an outstanding and creative leader. Applicants should possess a doctorate degree from an accredited institution, distinguished scholarship, teaching experience at the university level, and familiarity with a wide range of traditional and distance learning educational models and university governance. The ideal candidate will possess several years of demonstrated success in increasingly responsible administrative positions in academic settings; excellent communication and interpersonal skills with special expertise in collaboration and building consensus among diverse constituencies; and a commitment to diversity in all aspects of education.
