ECCMHI Program Coordinator


ECCMHI Program Coordinator – John F. Kennedy University Community Counseling Center in Concord, is seeking a Program Coordinator for the East Contra Costa Mental Health Initiative (ECCMHI). This is a part-time 20 hours per week position, weekdays with occasional Saturdays. Salary is based on qualifications and experience. This is a non-exempt, grant-funded position.

The requirements for this position include MA in Counseling Psychology or related field, a license as an MFT, PCC, PhD or LCSW with the ability to provide clinical supervisor to Counseling Trainees and Interns. A minimum of three years’ experience with a strong applied psychology background, particularly in the area of family and community systems. Bi-lingual skills preferable. Aptitude needed to work on multiple projects in a busy environment with frequent interruptions. Demonstrated experience in program development and coordination with a strong commitment to building community partnerships. Excellent follow-through and administrative efficiency are essential. Excellent organizational, written and oral communications skills and advanced computer skills are vital. Work experience in academic environment helpful.). Also required is the ability to demonstrate sensitivity in handling confidential information and a knowledge of licensing agencies and BBS regulations.

The ECCMHI Program Coordinator is directly supervised by the Centers’ Executive Director. The Program Coordinator is charged with the responsibility of co-developing and implementing with the Executive Director the JFKU’s expansion into the East Contra Costa County Region. The Program Coordinator will provide clinical supervision for the work performed by trainees and interns at various sites with whom the Center has or will be contracting. It is expected that the Program Coordinator will embed themselves in the fabric of the region, attending meetings with community partners, reaching out to governmental, faith-based, nonprofit service providers and local business to develop an understanding of the needs of the residents in this area so as to create client-centered programs and services meeting the needs of a diverse community. Working closely with the Executive Director, the Program Coordinator will build strategic partnerships to expand the Center and the University’s presence in the Region. The position requires that the Program Coordinator embrace family systems approaches to delivering counseling services and participate in training program with other Center colleagues to become certified as a Functional Family Therapist. It is expected that the Program Coordinator will carry a caseload of at least one family as a part of the certification requirement. The successful candidate will possess the ability to present herself or himself professionally and act with tact and diplomacy with a diverse constituency.
