The College of Graduate and Professional Studies at John F. Kennedy University (JFKU) invites applications for a core faculty member in its Master’s of Holistic Counseling Psychology Program on its Pleasant Hill campus. The program at the Pleasant Hill campus consists of the Transpersonal and the Somatic Psychology Specializations, and currently has 3 core faculty and approximately 120 students. JFK University’s College of Graduate and Professional Studies is a community of educators, practitioners, and students who share a vision of personal and social transformation. The Holistic Counseling Psychology Program prepares students for licensure in Marriage and Family Therapy.

In addition to teaching 24 units annually, this faculty member will assist the Program Chair and Specialization Director(s) in the formulation and execution of academic policy and curriculum development as well as mentor new and continuing students. Participation in program, college, and university governance is expected of all faculty members, as is maintaining a program of scholarship or community/professional service.

The program is seeking a creative individual who has strong background in and a vision of the future of Somatic and Transpersonal Psychology within Holistic Counseling Psychology and can translate this into high-quality academic instruction. A commitment to a holistic model of teaching is important, as well as the ability to create exciting and experiential learning opportunities for students. The successful candidate will be committed to working as part of an academic team, dedicated to her or his own personal growth within a somatic and transpersonal context, as well as possess a strong background in the theory and practice of Counseling Psychology. Specific areas of expertise are open, but expertise in trauma psychology, developmental psychology, diagnosis and assessment, and/or family systems theory and practice are highly welcome. Willingness to collaborate with and teach in the university’s other Masters Counseling Psychology Program (MFT and LPCC licensure preparation) is highly desirable.

Candidates should possess a Doctoral degree in Psychology or a related field, a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology or the equivalent, and a minimum of two years teaching in a college or university setting. Also desired are: experience with adult students; experience in the theory and practice of somatic and transpersonal counseling psychology; curriculum development experience; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; and commitment to diversity in all aspects of education. Applicants should be licensed.
