Core Faculty for Counseling Psychology

The College of Graduate and Professional Studies at John F. Kennedy University (JFKU) is looking to hire a full time faculty member to teach within its two Master’s in Counseling Psychology Programs on the Pleasant Hill campus. The Counseling Psychology programs, one with MFT and PCC specializations and one with a Holistic/Transpersonal and Somatic focus, prepare students for licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist or a Professional Clinical Counselor.
This full time position includes teaching 24 units annually, participation in curriculum development, and serving as mentor to students. Involvement in the program, college, and university governance is expected as is maintaining a program of scholarship or community/ professional service.
The successful candidate will be committed to working as part of an academic team, and possess a strong background in the theory and practice of counseling psychology and methods. Specific areas of expertise desirable are community mental health, crisis and trauma, child and adolescent therapy, developmental psychology, ethics and the law, psychopharmacology, diagnosis and assessment, clinical skills and family systems. Experience in holistic counseling and practice are highly welcome.
Candidates should possess a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology or the equivalent, a Doctoral degree in Psychology or a related field is preferred, and a minimum of two years teaching in a college or university setting. Also desired are: experience with adult students; experience in the theory and practice of expressive-arts counseling psychology; curriculum development experience; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; and commitment to diversity in all aspects of education.
