Career Services Specialist, Office of Academic Affairs, John F. Kennedy University, Pleasant Hill Campus, part-time, non- exempt position, 20 hours per week, Monday and Wednesday, 11 am - 6:30 pm; Friday, 11 am - 5:30 pm.
The Administrative responsibilities for this position include, but not limited to; maintaining job listings on an internal website, managing online assessment program, creating handouts and workshop flyers, and creating workshop content information.
The Career Counseling responsibilities are: assist students with planning new careers, changing career direction, and resolving career management issues. Counsel students regarding clarification of values and goals, job search strategies, resume writing, interview skills and transition management. Stay current with labor market trends.
The Career Center Specialist will also create, market and host career-related workshops and seminars for students at all campuses as well as coordinate an annual Career Fair.
Requirements are a Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s Degree in Counseling, Career Development, College Student Personnel/Higher Education is preferred.
The successful candidate will be professional, flexible, and able to work well under pressure and with a diverse, adult constituency. Knowledge of Microsoft word and excel software as well as being comfortable using email, fax machine, copier and printers.
