Campus Librarian, Reference and Instruction. John F. Kennedy University, San Jose Learning Resource Center, San Jose Campus. Regular, 40 hours per week. This grade 6 exempt position includes vacation, sick leave and a flexible benefits package including medical, dental, life insurance, 403(b) retirement eligibility, health and dependent care FSAs, and tuition waiver benefits.

The John F. Kennedy University Libraries consist of the Robert M. Fisher Library and Law Library in Pleasant Hill, and Learning Resource Centers at branch campuses in Berkeley and San Jose. The San Jose Learning Resource Center supports the curricular, research, classroom technology, and general campus needs of graduate and undergraduate programs in psychology.

The campus duties of the Librarian include: managing the day to day operations of the Learning Resource Center, providing reference assistance and information literacy instruction, and liaising with psychology faculty. The Librarian will also contribute to the support of online students registered at all JFKU locations via virtual reference, the creation and management of online tutorials and workshops, teaching a credit-bearing online information literacy course, and contributing to system-wide library assessment efforts.

In addition, this position will include site management duties, such as classroom technology support, managing quarterly room assignments, reporting site issues to facilities and property management, and limited assistance with campus special events.

The requirements for this position include an MLIS degree and a minimum of one year of professional academic library experience, including reference and instruction experience; familiarity with circulation operations and understanding of library systems. Supervisory experience is highly desirable. An academic background in or familiarity with psychology is desirable. Proficiency with Google Apps, Microsoft Office and a general comfort level with technology is desirable.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong public service orientation, diplomacy, flexibility, excellent organizational and communication skills and be able to work well with a diverse, adult constituency with a sense of professionalism and good humor.
