CETYS University International Seminar
Chancellor Cunningham presents at CETYS University International Seminar on Innovation in Higher Education

From September 15 – October 15, we celebrated National Hispanic Heritage Month, and I am proud that two universities in the National University System, both John F. Kennedy University and National University, are recognized as Hispanic Serving Institutions and as active members of the Hispanic Association of Colleges & Universities. At JFK University, we believe in offering our students' academic opportunities that are relevant and directly applicable to the world we live in, which is why I applaud the recent developments, including the new Undergraduate Success Center serving Hispanic and underserved students and the launch of the fully online bilingual Leadership Certificate Program in collaboration with the California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce.

Congratulations to President Debra Bean and the JFK University team on these wonderful partnerships, which will provide many opportunities for our University community.

The beginning of a new academic year provides an opportunity to reflect and refocus on goals. I had the pleasure of attending JFK University’s Fall Assembly, and enjoyed meeting with faculty members and reflecting on how we can best serve our students by teaching courses that incorporate current research, the latest technological advances and lessons that are relevant to the real world.

During the Assembly, we also heard more about the new Innovation Grant program and how faculty and staff across the National University System are collaborating to create exciting new programs, services and academic pathways aimed at fostering student success. Some of these developments include a standardized patient simulation program to enhance clinical training for nursing students. Another program is designed to ease the transition of military students to civilian life and promote academic success among veteran students. I am looking forward to hearing the results of all the Innovation Grant endeavors. I am so proud of our wonderful faculty and staff, who continuously demonstrate their commitment to helping students achieve their educational goals by providing superior programs and services and make JFKU a distinctive leading-edge university.
